Michael E. Breier

Mike Breier is an audit and consulting partner with Shepard Schwartz & Harris LLP.  As a CPA and Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), Mr. Breier combines his extensive knowledge of the business processes and operational practices of homebuilding, construction and manufacturing companies with the use and integration of technology.  His work with clients covers a broad range of audit, accounting, technology, and business operations and management issues, including:

• Evaluation of accounting systems and internal controls for large scale residential developers, construction contractors and suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Audit, review and compilation engagements for business owners as necessitated by lenders and other outside parties.
• Consulting on a variety of distressed residential properties and construction projects. 
• Sarbanes-Oxley compliance projects for privately held companies contracting with publicly traded REITs and corporations.
• Financial forecasts and projections related to private offerings, acquisitions and dispositions of real property and other assets.
• Ownership structure analysis and implementation including Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) integration.

In addition to his extensive real estate and construction industry expertise, Mr. Breier has been retained as an expert witness in matrimonial, contract and shareholder litigated matters.  He conducts and reviews forensic analysis and investigations related to fraud and hidden assets in divorce cases.  He also prepares damages calculations related to contract and shareholder litigation. 

Prior to joining Shepard Schwartz & Harris in 1985, Mr. Breier practiced public accounting with a firm in Naperville and held an in-house position as an assistant to the Vice President of Finance for Royal Crown Cola Company. He has taught at the college level and lectured on a variety of accounting, tax and information technology topics.
